Healing Begins at the Center

More Than a Name: The Philosophy of Bodycentric Healing Arts

By Dennette Beth Myers

People often ask how I came up with the name Bodycentric Healing Arts. The answer wasn’t revealed all at once. It emerged gradually through years of practice, study, and a growing realization about the nature of healing itself.

As I explored massage therapy, bodywork, energy healing, music and sound healing, meditation, and other healing arts, I began to notice a common thread. No matter which modality I was practicing or which challenge a client was facing, everything seemed to point back to the same place—not simply the physical body, but the body as a living expression of our emotional, energetic, mental, and physical experience.

In many ways, it felt as though I had discovered a modality I had never formally studied—one that revealed itself through every person I worked with.

Not just the physical body, but the many bodies we inhabit—the physical, emotional, energetic, and mental layers of our experience. These interconnected aspects of ourselves influence one another continuously. When one is out of balance, the others often respond. When they begin to harmonize, something remarkable happens: we experience greater coherence, resilience, vitality, creativity, and well-being.

The name Bodycentric grew from this understanding. The body is the hub. The center. The place where healing begins and from which transformation radiates.

This philosophy is reflected in our mandala logo. At its center is the individual returning to themselves. Extending outward are rays that symbolize the many pathways of healing and growth. To me, the rays represent both the modalities we offer and the practitioners who bring them to life. Each contributes unique gifts, perspectives, and expertise. Together, we create something greater than any one of us could offer alone.

Over time, Bodycentric Healing Arts evolved into a Collective of Practitioners and a refuge—a place where people can come for support, whether they seek relief from pain, emotional healing, nervous system regulation, personal growth, or simply a moment of rest in a busy world.

More importantly, our role is not to become the center of your healing journey. Our role is to help you reconnect with the center of your own.

The mandala reminds us that healing begins at the center, but its effects ripple outward. As we become more balanced, resilient, and connected within ourselves, that transformation naturally extends into our relationships, our communities, and the way we engage with the world.

The radiance we seek is not something we give you. It is already within you. Our work is simply to help you remember.
